Feeder Friday; Feeding Bluebirds

Do you feed bluebirds, and if so, what do your bluebirds eat??

Are there things you have tried feeding them, that they did not eat?

Do you feed bluebirds in summer or all year, and where do you live?

We're taking a poll.

Ours like live mealworms, but other people report bluebirds eating dried mealworms, hulled sunflower seed, crumbled meal of peanut butter, cornmeal, berries, etc. (many people have their own recipe.)

You can answer by leaving a comment in the comment section at the end of this blog post, or by clicking here.
Thanks for answering!

I feed them live mealworms. They also like "Bluebird nuggets' which are small peanutty cornmeal balls, but I had to quit offering those as the squirrels really like them too! My bluebirds also seem to LOVE the birdbath, especially if a dripper or mister is available.

I have never seen a Bluebird at any of my feeders. Or any one elses for that matter. Where in the world would you find life mealworms? Now, they do love a birdbath, I have video of that from a few years back. I live in N. Alabama

Mealworms are available from pet stores or from many online companies. For more info see:

We feed ours a mix of corn meal and peanut butter, they love it. We usually feed all year since other birds like it as much as the bluebirds do.
