White-crowned Sparrow
This beautiful White-crowned Sparrow popped up on our deck yesterday, just for a second. What a treat. We don't see many of these here. This one was on migration to its breeding grounds in northern Canada. Have a safe trip.
Lillian and Don Stokes are best-selling bird authors, TV personalities and authorities on birding for over 25 years. Phoebe, their Pembroke Welsh Corgi, is their constant companion.

So do we! We only see about 3-4 a year here, so they are very special.
We lived in Northern Ontario for 14 years. Each Spring we looked forward to hearing these guys greet the morning. Great picture.
I saw one having a birdseed snack in my Indianapolis yard last week. First time for me. What a treat!
I've had quite a few of these beautiful birds in my Central PA backyard. I love how sharply the stripes are defined.
