Yellow-crowned Night Heron recently at J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, Sanibel, FL with a prize - a little fish. These herons usually are active at night but lately we have been seeing a lot of Yellow crowns hunting during the day. These birds winter and breed in FL and can also breed in many parts of the lower eastern two-thirds of the country.
