Happy Valentine's Day. This is also our blogger anniversary. We have been doing Stokes Birding Blog for 1 year, during which time we have brought you 233 posts, hundreds of Lillian’s photos and had you travel with us to many places across the country. We hope you have enjoyed this year of Stokes Birding Blog and we plan on bringing you another great year of blogging.
The above photo was recently taken of a Roseate Spoonbill preening with its head under its wing. I took a similar photo a year ago and put it on our first blog entry. Click here to see it. You can also view all our past year's blog entries by clicking on the archives in the column to the right.
See you for another year,
Lillian and Don Stokes

Happy Valentine's Day to you both! Your photo is absolutely beautiful. And happy blogiversary!
I adore your blog, read daily, and get so much inspiration to be a better photographer. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos and the wonderful journeys to enjoy the birds. Blessings to you both...
Happy Valentine's Day and the spoonbill makes a perfect V-day bird that many of us would love to see on this day! I also would like to wish you a happy 1 year blogiversary and I would like to wish you many more wonderful years to come! Keep up the great work in my daily visits with your adventures.
Thank you for the lovely image for Valentine's Day! 5-year-old birdwatcher Fiona would like to know if spoonbills' color depends on their diet, like a flamingo's color does?
Your blogs are bright spots day in and day out. Thank you and keep it up!
Thank you all for the warm wishes, we appreciate it. Tell young birdwatcher Fiona, that Roseate Spoonbills do not depend on their diet for the color. They mostly eat small fish. Young Roseates, as in my photo, are pale pink. Adult Roseates are darker pink with a deep red bar across their wing. Keep watching the birds!
Your postings are a joy to read. Thank you for all the beautiful pictures and the great photography information. I look forward to reading your blog everyday.
