Black Skimmers

My photos of Black Skimmers (top photo from introduction, bottom photo from Black Skimmer species account) are from our new field guide which is
ALMOST HERE.
Have you pre-ordered your copy yet?

Have a great weekend.
Hawks should be flying once the storms leave New England.

Just pre ordered 3 guides...one for me, and two for Christmas gifts! Easy shopping and a good price!

I am traveling the mid-Atlantic on business for a couple weeks. I've got my review copy of the Stokes field guide and I am loving it! I've used it to help me i.d. five new life birds! I was studying it on the plane from Boise and another birder saw me with it and wondered how I got a hold of one before it was released.

Ok, what's a life bird?

Lillian Stokes said...

A life bird is a bird you see for the first time in your life. Birders keep a list of all the birds they have seen in their lifetime, i.e their "life list."
